
The Special Presidential Envoy for Health and Nutrition, H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Sheikh, carried out a working visit to the National Blood Bank and the Banadir Dialysis Center in Mogadishu.The visit formed part of the Envoy’s continued efforts to enhance Somalia’s healthcare delivery systems and ensure that citizens have access to safe, quality, and life-saving medical services.During the visit,
H.E Abdirahman was briefed on the critical work undertaken by both institutions. At the Banadir Dialysis Center, he observed the dialysis services that provide vital care to patients suffering from kidney failure, ensuring they receive the regular treatment needed for survival. At the National Blood Bank, he reviewed the blood collection, storage, and distribution operations, which play a crucial role in saving the lives of patients requiring emergency transfusions.
The Envoy was welcomed by Dr. Abdirahman Hassan, Director of the National Blood Bank, and Dr. Ahmed Hassan, Director of the Banadir Dialysis Center. Both directors presented updates on daily activities, achievements, and challenges faced in delivering essential health services.
H.E Abdirahman also took time to meet with patients benefiting from dialysis treatments and citizens voluntarily donating blood to support national health efforts.In his remarks, the Envoy commended the dedication and professionalism of Somalia’s healthcare workers, acknowledging their tireless contributions to improving the nation’s public health outcomes. He further encouraged members of the public to embrace a culture of voluntary blood donation, emphasizing that such efforts are key to saving lives and building community resilience.
