Strengthening Health Systems: Visit to Forlanini Public Hospita
The Special Presidential Envoy for Health and Nutrition, Hon. Abdirahman Mohamed Sheikh, conducted a pivotal visit to Forlanini Public Hospital. As part of the visit, the envoy led a high-level meeting with representatives from WHO Somalia, the Director of Forlanini Public Hospital, and the Director of Medicine Quality Control from the Ministry of Health.
The discussions primarily addressed the pressing issue of Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) and the importance of reinforcing regulations to ensure the proper use of medications in Somalia. Participants emphasized the critical role of collaboration between relevant institutions in enhancing public awareness through both government and independent media channels to combat improper medication practices.
The delegation also inspected the operations of the National TB Reference Laboratory (NTRL) located at Forlanini Hospital. This visit underlined a collective commitment to improving healthcare services and tackling major public health challenges faced by Somali communities.
The envoy pointed to the significance of coordinated efforts among health institutions, highlighting the importance of building resilient healthcare systems to better serve the Somali population. The visit marks another step in advancing Somalia’s health sector toward greater efficiency and sustainability.
